“What do you do?”
“It’s kind of hard to explain.”
“Because what you do is complicated?”
“Because I don’t really do it.”
I love Greta Gerwig, despite Damsels in Distress being a disaster. (Now say that five times real quick.)
But Whit Stillman’s brilliance with The Last Days of Disco will forever allow him to write nonsense and still get Gerwig to be his leading lady.
Frances Ha has a slight Stillman feel, but actually it’s directed by Gerwig’s partner Noah Baumbach and written by the both of them.
Aside from Silver Linings Playbook, this is one of my favourite films of the year.
